How to Arrive

  • If you are someone that uses oils/butter such as Raw Coconut oil or Shea Butter on your hair or use products that are heavy with oils/butter such as Shea Moisture or Cantu:

At least a week before your appointment, change your shampoo and conditioner to a more cleansing product and do not leave residue behind. After you wash and condition, your hair should feel like hair, not waxy.

Weekly shampoo/conditioners are anything from Innersence Organic Beauty or AG Haircare.

You may detox and clarify your hair before arrival to help remove buildup if you have not been using less-than-ideal products or have hard/healthy water. Only use a clarifying shampoo ONCE every month or two. Clarifying too frequently will strip your hair of its natural oils.

Recommended Clarifying Shampoos: Kinky Curl Come Clean, Malibu C UndoGoo, or Uncle Funky's Daughter Squeaky

It might seem strange to ask you to clarify PRIOR, but trust me, IT IS WORTH IT. Doing so will assist with removing heavy cream, oils, and butter that coat the hair, hindering it from becoming hydrated. This is especially important if you have used these products for months or years. This buildup is practically impossible to remove in one service, so clarifying prior and eliminating them as soon as possible will get you to your goals sooner.

This does not mean I will not need to Clarify again at your appointment. I have more advanced products in the salon to help remove any lingering buildup. Remember, this is a partnership.

  • Any conditioner that does not contain heavy oils or butter at the top of the ingredients list or contains silicones.

  • PLEASE arrive with your WITH PRODUCT in a DRY wash and Go/Curly set. Please do not stress over this portion. It in no way has to be perfect; you will learn with practice, and I am here to educate you on how to achieve the style you want. I only ask that you try; remember, this is a partnership; help me help you. While Styling, please refrain from using ANY products from Shea Moisture, Pantene, Cantu, The Mane Choice, or anything that contains silicones, petroleum, lanolin, butter, or oils.

*If you wear your hair in a Twist Out more frequently than a Wash and Go, please let me know in advance when you fill out the new client consultation form. You may also come to the salon in your Twist-Out, since this is how you normally wear your hair normally.

PLEASE DO NOT use bobby pins, head wraps, ponytails, headbands, rubber bands, hats, clips, etc on the day of your appointment. I need to see your natural curl pattern and how your hair falls to perform the cut properly. Your hair should be ultimately out in a Wash & Go.

Failure to follow these guidelines may incur in a $75 service charge or cancelation of your appointment. There are no exceptions. Please trust the process!

  • If you've been wearing a weave, braids, or your real hair hidden for an extended period of time, we respectfully ask you to please be realistic about the capabilities of real hair. If you have been using products with butters, oils and silicones it will likely take more than one session to achieve your desired results.
